Sweet BYU!

For the next couple weeks I am going to be exploring some places on Brigham Young University's campus. BYU has a ton of really awesome places to go for a picnic, walk, or date that are right in front of our eyes. Most of them we don't ever notice. This is one of those places. This location is on North University Dr. (the same as Bulldog Blvd. before you enter BYU campus), just before it turns right (south). You'll know what I mean if you go there. Its right across the street from the Museum of Art.
The pictures below were taken by me. The first picture is the best view you would be able to see from the road.
Most BYU students are familiar with the "duck pond" which is a different pond that is south of campus. I think the reason it is so well known and this pond isn't is because the duck pond is more visible from the road. The duck pond is also a little closer to more housing. But this pond is much prettier and has a waterfall - which I think makes it much cooler. Also, there are sometimes ducks here as well. I don't remember what weekend it was but earlier this year, on a three-day-weekend, I wanted to feed ducks with my girlfriend and all the ducks at the 'duck pond' were already full of bread! I had never seen ducks that were less enthused to see bread in my life.
This area also has plenty of grass around it as well as a path surrounding the pond. Last week when I took these pictures there was a father with his few children having a good time exploring, running around the pond and waterfall.
The picture above was taken from the top of the waterfall.

This path is really pretty and if you like this, you'll really love one of the locations that I will post soon. BYU Grounds has been working on a project that is much similar to this one since early this year and is actually not quite all the way done yet. But I'll be taking pictures of it this week. There will be a creek that is nearly a mile long and four or five waterfalls similar to the one at this pond.

  1. I like this area because even though the road runs along it, it does have the sense of seclusion to a degree. We did our engagement photos here (tho' the water was off, being cold out).

  2. Pretty! I think I've been to this place once, but I totally forgot about it. But you're totally right...it is way less popular than the duck pond!

  3. I love this spot. I used to live in Heritage and would go there a lot. Once there were even baby ducks there and we played with them, it was so fun! These pictures are lovely, thanks for sharing!

  4. Great pictures. I noticed that this past weekend walking to the BYU football game I the mini waterfall and noticed that there were DUCKS there too! I doubt they are as full here as at the duck pond.
